SongSpot Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 15, 2026 · DRAFT — pending review
SongSpot ("the app", "we") is a game for guessing songs from short audio clips. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the app, what we use it for, who it's shared with, and how you can exercise your rights over it.
1. Who processes your data
The data controller is [PENDING: name of the data controller], contact: m.wazowski.00@gmail.com.
2. What data we collect
We only collect the data needed for the app to work:
- Account data: if you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email and the display name you choose to share (Apple and Google both let you hide your real email behind a relay address).
- Username: the unique name you choose inside the app to appear on the leaderboard.
- Gameplay stats: your best Daily Challenge streak, your best Infinite Mode score, and your daily results (which song you played, whether you got it right, at which stage).
You can play in guest mode, without signing in: in that case no data is linked to any identity and your progress only lives on your device.
3. What we do NOT collect
- We don't use any third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
- We don't access your contacts, photos, location, or microphone.
- We don't sell or share your data with third parties for advertising purposes.
4. How we use your data
Your data is used solely to run the app: saving your progress across sessions and devices, showing you on the global leaderboard, and tracking your Daily Challenge streak. It is never used to profile you for advertising.
5. Where it's stored
Your data is stored in Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Authentication), Google Cloud's platform. Google acts as our infrastructure provider (data processor); it does not use this data for its own advertising purposes.
Listening outside the app: the "Listen on Apple Music" and "Listen on Spotify" buttons take you to those external apps/services. Once you leave SongSpot, Apple Music's or Spotify's own privacy policy applies, not this one. Likewise, the game's audio clips come from the iTunes Search API and, as a fallback, from Deezer — those calls are made by our server when building the song catalog, not by your device, and we don't send them any of your personal data.
6. How long we keep your data
We keep your account and gameplay data for as long as your account stays active. If you delete your account, we delete this data (see section 8).
7. Children
SongSpot is not specifically directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under that age without appropriate consent.
8. Your rights
At any time, you can ask us to:
- Access the data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data (e.g., your username, directly from the app's Settings).
- Delete your account and all associated data.
- Object to processing, or request data portability.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at m.wazowski.00@gmail.com. We'll respond within a reasonable time.
9. Security
All communication between the app and our servers uses standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS). Your gameplay and leaderboard data can only be written by our own servers — never directly from another device.
10. Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
